How we offer safe and effective home whitening

In Europe, there have been strict rules for teeth whitening since 2012. Only the dentist can still prescribe bleaching material with a maximum of 6% hydrogen peroxide. This amount is safe and effective and is equivalent to the other product 16% carbamide peroxide.

How does home teeth whitening work at the dentist?

With a lower percentage, the bleaching process takes longer, which is why we have chosen to only offer home bleaching. We use the ?Cavex ABC master kit?.
We manufacture two custom-made oral spoons for you, which you must wear with a whitening gel in your mouth. How long to bleach depends on the result you want to achieve. Before the whitening sessions you will be checked and advised by the dentist. You can reuse the spoons, which is useful if you want to whiten your teeth again. The whitening gel is available at our practice. This is always done in consultation with the dentist.

Gift certificates for whitening treatments and conditions

We also sell gift vouchers from €50 for a whitening treatment. The dentist reserves the right to decide whether the person who wants to redeem the gift voucher is suitable for whitening. The gift voucher cannot be exchanged for cash and is valid for 1 year from the date of issue. The remaining amount of the treatment can be paid by debit card, cash or with multiple gift vouchers.

Is whitening bad for your teeth?

No, fortunately, due to the strict EU guidelines, bleaching is completely safe and not harmful. You can even continue bleaching for several weeks in a row. Provided, of course, that you are well informed and that only hydrogen or carbamide peroxide is used in the correct quantities. Teeth whitening does not change the structure of your teeth.

Can I order whitening gel online so that I can whiten at home?

If you order it yourself, it may contain a maximum of 0.1% hydrogen peroxide. This is far too little to see a bleaching effect. It is also possible that they put other harmful products in it. Or other products that don't work. It may also be that it is sold illegally or that it has not been properly stored. Hydrogen peroxide really is the only scientifically proven safe and effective bleach.

How white will my teeth be after whitening?

What is White? White is actually super subjective! The basic color of your teeth is genetically determined, which depends, for example, on how thick your enamel (white/transparent) and your dentine (yellowish) is. The whiter your base color, the easier it is to bleach often. In addition, dietary habits also play a role.

Do you smoke or drink a lot of coffee? Then it will take longer for you to get whiter teeth. The type of color also plays a role, as teeth with a grayish undertone are often more difficult to whiten. Especially yellowish and brown teeth caused by food or tobacco can easily be whitened. But your wishes also play a major role; one wants super white, the other just wants to refresh.

How long will my teeth stay white after teeth whitening?

That also depends on your lifestyle, among other things. If you hardly drink red wine, coffee or tea, your whitening result will probably last longer.

Many patients repeat the whitening after about 6 months or a year, but only for 1 or 2 times.

Does teeth whitening hurt?

In theory, sensitivity may occur. However, this rarely happens with the products we use. The gums may become a little irritated, but that heals quickly.

We work with Cavex's ABC Masterkit, because it also contains a product (the conditioner) that ensures that sensitivity is eliminated.

Is teeth whitening suitable for everyone?

Almost anyone who would like to have whiter teeth can undergo this treatment. Do you have a (starting) hole, fillings, crowns or bridges? Then we will first have to determine whether they still meet the requirements for safe bleaching. Moreover, fillings and crowns do not discolour. So we may have to replace it after bleaching.

Is there a minimum age limit for teeth whitening?

Yes, the laws and regulations in the Netherlands are (rightly) quite strict. This means that we can only whiten from the age of 18.
