How we offer safe and effective home whitening
In Europe, there have been strict rules for teeth whitening since 2012. Only the dentist can still prescribe bleaching material with a maximum of 6% hydrogen peroxide. This amount is safe and effective and is equivalent to the other product 16% carbamide peroxide.
How does home teeth whitening work at the dentist?
With a lower percentage, the bleaching process takes longer; for this reason, we have chosen to only offer at-home bleaching. We use the '‘Cavex ABC masterkit’.
We manufacture two custom-made oral spoons for you, which you must wear with a whitening gel in your mouth. How long to bleach depends on the result you want to achieve. Before the whitening sessions you will be checked and advised by the dentist. You can reuse the spoons, which is useful if you want to whiten your teeth again. The whitening gel is available at our practice. This is always done in consultation with the dentist.

How does teeth whitening work at De Amsterdamse Tandarts?
Would you like whiter teeth? At De Amsterdamse Tandarts, we do not whiten your teeth directly in the dental chair; instead, you opt for professional at-home whitening under the supervision of the dentist. You receive whitening trays made specifically for your teeth and clear instructions for use. This ensures you go through the whitening process in a safe and controlled manner.
Step 1. We check your teeth
Before you start teeth whitening, we first check your teeth. We examine the health of your teeth and gums and assess whether whitening is appropriate in your situation. We also discuss your wishes and what you can expect from the result.
Step 2. We make custom bleaching trays.
Are your teeth suitable for whitening? Then we make whitening trays that fit your teeth precisely. Thanks to the personalized customization, the whitening gel stays securely in place, and you can wear the trays comfortably at home.
Step 3. You receive the whitening kit and personal instructions.
When the whitening trays are ready, you will receive the professional whitening gel and we will explain how to use it. You will receive clear instructions regarding the amount of whitening gel, wearing the trays, and what to keep in mind during the whitening process.
Step 4. You whiten your teeth at home
Next, you can get started at home. You wear the whitening trays according to the instructions you received from us. This means you do not have to visit our dental practice in Amsterdam multiple times to have your teeth whitened, and you can easily carry out the process at home.
Step 5. Keep your result looking good
After the whitening process, you can keep the custom-made whitening trays. Would you like to freshen up your teeth again after a while? Then discuss this with our dentist. We can assess whether re-bleaching is responsible and advise you on maintaining your result.
Gift certificates for whitening treatments and conditions
We also sell gift vouchers from €50 for a whitening treatment. The dentist reserves the right to decide whether the person who wants to redeem the gift voucher is suitable for whitening. The gift voucher cannot be exchanged for cash and is valid for 1 year from the date of issue. The remaining amount of the treatment can be paid by debit card, cash or with multiple gift vouchers.
